Walk & talk therapy in Cambridge
Therapy that takes place during a shared walk in nature, rather than seated in a room.

Most therapy is framed as a seated conversation, whether online or in a room. Walk and talk therapy is an alternative: instead of meeting at my home studio, we walk together in nature, in a local green space with a mix of woodland and open grass.
It's a good fit if you like being outdoors, if you find it easier to think while you move, or if you express yourself more freely side by side than face to face. Being outside can let different kinds of emotion surface, and there's something about being in your body, out in the open, that can be quietly regulating in itself.
How it works. We'll always start with at least one seated conversation first, in person or online, so I can explain what to expect and you can ask anything, especially if walking therapy is new to you. It isn't all or nothing: you might want to try it and then move to more conventional sessions, or you might mostly want seated therapy and try a walk now and then. Whatever suits you. Walk and talk sessions are the same price as my other work, and anything you'd talk about in a seated session can be talked about while we walk.
Weather. We walk in most weather, including rain. Honestly, being out in weather you'd normally avoid can feel surprisingly energising. If conditions make it genuinely unsafe, like a thunderstorm or a heatwave, or if you're unwell, we always have the option to meet in my studio or online instead. Living in England, though, expect that we'll sometimes walk in the rain.
A gentle pace. This isn't exercise. Cambridge is flat, and we'll walk slowly enough that you can talk in comfortable breath, with no hills and no rush. Think gentle movement through the landscape, for around fifty minutes. If you'd rather, we can also simply sit outside together, on a bench in a park.
What to bring. The routes I use are usually on grass rather than paved, so comfortable, sturdy shoes are a good idea, and bring an umbrella if it looks like rain.
Privacy. These are public spaces, so it's possible we'll pass other people, often someone walking their dog. It still works as a private conversation, but if confidentiality matters to you in general, or there's something particular you'd like to discuss on a given day, we can always move that conversation to a more private setting.
Accessibility. If you have any mobility needs, we'll find a route that works; for example, somewhere paved, though paved paths tend to be a little busier with other people. Anything along these lines is best talked through when we meet, so we can choose what's right for you.
I offer a free 15-minute introductory call so we can see whether we're a good fit before booking a first session.
